Poker Games and their Rules
There are many variations of the game and each one has a different set of rules, however one thing that is in common is there are usually several rounds of betting. Each game tests the players ability to calculate the percentage of risk and then asses the opponents reactions and ‘tells’ to see whether they have a better have to win or not.
Texas holdem
Texas Hold’em consists of 4 Betting Rounds. Throughout the Texas Hold’em game each player receives 2 facedown “Pocket Cards”. 5 face-up “Community cards” placed in the center of the Texas Hold’em Poker Table to be shared by all the players. Each player on the Texas Hold’em Poker Table creates the highest valued Poker hand, using any combination of his/her 2 Pocket Cards and the 5 Community cards.
Omaha hi
Omaha hi is also a very popular poker game that is played with between two – ten players. Each player receives four private cards (face down) and then 5 community cards (face up) placed in the centre of the table for all players to see. Player has to create the highest possible hand with any two of their four private cards and any three community cards.
Seven card stud
Seven Card Stud is probably the easiest to learn and the most well known of all poker games. Each player is dealt seven cards unique to the player, starting with two cards (hole cards) face down and one card face up. Three more cards are dealt to each player face up, with betting rounds in between. Then a final card is dealt face down, followed by a final betting round. The best five-card hand wins the money.
Five card draw
Five card draw poker is the oldest and still one of the best poker games. The game is played between two - five players. Betting in Five card draw poker consists of an initial Ante, preceded by two betting rounds. Each player receives five cards face-down and may discard or draw up to five cards after the first betting round. The player with the highest hand at showdown wins the pot.
Caribbean stud poker
This version of poker is basically against the casino or room (the dealer). Here it does not matter what the other players around the table has, all that matters is that you beat the dealer. Dealer pays out all winning bets.
